Theory of Mixed Operation

Mixed operation may define as an operation or calculation which involve more than one of the four arithmetic operation (Additions, Subtractions, Multiplications and Divisions.)

Whenever there is more than one operation, we must follow this order of operations:

"Do Multiplication and Division

BEFORE addition and subtraction."

Step1:  Gather the data given

Step2:  Identify the answer needed

Step3:  Decide on the correct operation

Step4:  Do the operations within brackets first

Step5:  Do the (x) and ( ÷ ) operations from Left to Right

The Four Basic Maths Operations

Addition

Addition is commutative
the order does not matter
3+ 2 = 5    and    2 + 3 = 5

Subtraction

The order does matter
5 - 3 = 2   but     3 - 4 = - 1

Multiplication

Multiplication is commutative
the order does not matter
3 x 4 = 12      and    4 x 3 = 12

Division

The order does matter
10 ÷  2 = 5      but   2 ÷ 10 = 1 / 5
